Even though they were drubbed 34-3 on Sunday by the Philadelphia Eagles and will next play a team very similar to them in Week 4, the Pittsburgh Steelers opened the week as a home favorite over the Kansas City Chiefs.
After initially opening up as 4-point favorite over the Chiefs on Sunday, the Steelers are now favored on Tuesday by as much as 6-points at several of the top online sportsbooks.
The Chiefs enter the Week 4 Sunday night game against the Steelers with a 2-1 record and are coming off of a convincing 24-3 win over the New York Jets this past Sunday. In that game, the Chiefs defense intercepted Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick a total of 6 times and returned one of them for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith completed 25 of his 33 pass attempts against the Jets for 237 yards and a touchdown. However, he only threw 4 passes more than 15 yards down the field against the Jets and failed to complete any of them.
In the Chiefs 23-13 home win over the Steelers last season, Smith completed 21 of his 32 pass attempts in the game for 251 yards and a touchdown. The Chiefs offensive coordinator last season was Doug Pederson, who is now the Eagles head coach.
While Pederson is no longer in Kansas City, the Chiefs still run a West Coast system under head coach Andy Reid. In other words, expect Reid to try and duplicate a lot of the things that Pederson and the Eagles had success doing this past Sunday in their win over the Steelers.
