15 Pittsburgh Steelers players became unrestricted free agents on Wednesday and that list includes defensive lineman Cam Thomas, who has spent the last two seasons with the team after being signed in 2014. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Thomas is visiting the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday as they are looking at him potentially being a replacement for defensive tackle Brandon Mebane.
Its hard to believe that the Seahawks are looking at Thomas to possibly be a starter and especially being as he only played 187 total defensive snaps last season with the Steelers. In his two seasons with the Steelers, Thomas really didn’t play well at all on his way to recording 29 total tackles and a half sack during the 32 regular season games that he played in.
If you are a Steelers fan, you want Thomas to sign right away and for more than the minimum as it will factor into the compensatory draft pick formula next offseason.
The Steelers stand to lose two defensive linemen to free agency this offseason as starting nose tackle Steve McLendon was not re-signed prior to the start of the signing period.
