With the Senior Bowl, I actually missed this bit of news until a Philadelphia Eagles’ buddy of mine pointed it out to me last night. Art Rooney II confirmed that Brandon Hunt is interviewing for a position on the Eagles’ personnel staff.
Hunt is the team’s Pro Personnel Coordinator and oversees that department. While I certainly don’t have an in-depth perspective on the job description, pro personnel coordinators and scouts are responsible for watching players around the league, free agents and ones on teams, along with players in other leagues, like the CFL and AFL.
Obviously, this interview took place during the Senior Bowl where Hunt, sort of seen in the photo above during weigh-ins, attended along with Eagles’ brass.
Though a guy like Hunt is behind the curtain and not really thought about, his fingerprints were all over the 2015 season. From bringing in Chris Boswell and Fitzgerald Toussaint to likely having a hand in the evaluation of Brandon Boykin before the training camp deal, those moves helped shape the Steelers roster.
Where would this team be without Boswell, the 4th and final kicker? Would the Steelers advance in the Wild Card game without Toussaint, or even Jordan Todman for that matter, another feather in Hunt’s cap.
Hunt has been with the team since 2010 and would be an underrated loss for the Steelers, whose group has been unchanged since the start of the offseason. Former Steeler Tom Donahoe is helping with the Eagles’ search and likely still has strong ties to Pittsburgh, possibly giving Hunt the edge in the race. The exact nature of the job is unknown. We’ll update you when the Eagles announce any hiring.
