The Pittsburgh Steelers had to do without veteran running back DeAngelo Williams Saturday night in their AFC Wild Card win over the Cincinnati Bengals and while his status for Sunday’s Divisional Round game against the Denver Broncos is currently up in the air, a Monday morning report doesn’t offer up encouraging news.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN via Jim Trotter, Williams is visiting noted foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte, NC on Monday.
Williams suffered his right foot injury in the regular season finale win over the Cleveland Browns and that prevented him from playing against the Bengals. Should Monday’s report wind up being true, and there’s no reason to think it’s not, Williams’ foot injury might prevent him from playing against the Broncos.
Should Williams not play against Denver, the Steelers will again be forced to rely on backup running backs Fitzgerald Toussaint and Jordan Todman. That duo rushed for 123 yards against the Bengals.
