The Pittsburgh Steelers appear to be a very healthy team as they begin their preparations to play the Baltimore Ravens on the road Sunday. During his weekly Tuesday press conference, head coach Mike Tomlin only named safety Mike Mitchell (shoulder) as a player that might be limited in practice this week.
“It appears as though we’re in pretty good shape,” said Tomlin. “The only in-game injury to speak of, Mike Mitchell sustained a shoulder injury in the game. He was able to go back in and finish. We’ll probably manage him during the course of the week to make sure he’s at his very best as we go into the stadium. The rest of the guys are some veteran maintenance guys that will be normal procedural things in terms of their practice participation in terms of game readiness and really give an opportunity for the young guys to get extended work and some those guys to rest and recuperate when required.’
Tomlin did hint that a few players might be dealing with illnesses right now and that running back DeAngelo Williams and backup quarterback Landry Jones were both sick last week.
When the Wednesday injury report is released, I would expect Mitchell to be listed with his shoulder injury along with several veteran players as not injury related.
