The Pittsburgh Steelers not only lost 20-17 to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, they also lost three players to injuries during the game.
Injured Sunday were cornerback Antwon Blake, fullback Roosevelt Nix and safety Mike Mitchell and head coach Mike Tomlin updated the statuses of all three players after the game.
“From an injury standpoint, Blake went out with a back and he’s being evaluated,” said Tomlin. “Nix with a foot, fifth metatarsal and Mike Mitchell had a shoulder that occurred a little here in recent weeks. We’ll evaluate those guys and others.”
Nix’s injury certainly doesn’t sound good so there’s a good chance he’ll be placed on the Reserve/Injured list early next week if he suffered a break in his foot. As for Mitchell, he has battled a shoulder injury for several weeks now so there’s an outside chance that he’ll miss next Sundays game against the Cleveland Browns. As for Blake, the Steelers defense will likely be better without him on the field.
Tomlin will meet with the media again on Tuesday and will almost certainly update the list of injured players during that noon press conference.
