The Pittsburgh Steelers prevented the Cincinnati Bengals from clinching the AFC North Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium by beating them 33-20 in a game that featured quarterback Ben Roethlisberger throwing for 282 yards. However, even though they won Sunday, the Steelers will still end Week 14 as the No. 7 seed in the AFC.
For a third week in a row, the (8-5) Steelers failed to get much help on the NFL scoreboard as the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs both won their Sunday afternoon games over the Tennessee Titans and San Diego Chargers, respectively.
Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for 263 yards and 3 touchdowns in his team’s 30-8 win over the Titans. The Jets will remain the No. 6 seed in the AFC with their 8-5 record as they have one more conference win than the Steelers.
Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith threw for 191 yards and a touchdown in his team’s 10-3 win over the Chargers in a game that featured a lot of rain. The Chiefs will remain the N0. 5 seed in the AFC with their 8-5 record as they currently own a 7-2 conference record in addition to owning head-to-head tiebreakers over the Steelers.
Next week, the Jets will play the Dallas Cowboys on the road while the Chiefs will travel to play the Baltimore Ravens. The Steelers, on the other hand, will host the Denver Broncos in other Week 15 action.
