With his two penalties on Sunday in the win over the Oakland Raiders, Pittsburgh Steelers center Cody Wallace has now overtaken injured tackle Kelvin Beachum for the most accepted on the team.
Strangely enough, both of the flags on Wallace on Sunday were for false starts which is tough to do being as he is the center and responsible for snapping the football. Those two penalties now give him six on the season for a total of 55 yards. All but one of his penalties managed to stall drives.
As a team, the Steelers were only flagged five times on Sunday for a total of 42 yards. Two of those penalties were on the defense and both came on 3rd downs. Cornerback Antwon Blake was responsible for one of those two and he’s now tied for the lead on defense with fellow cornerback Ross Cockrell.
For the season, the Steelers have had 63 accepted penalties against them for 490 yards. Those penalties have also resulted in 137 nullified yards which are yards nullified by penalties on the offense or the punt or kickoff return team.
