The Pittsburgh Steelers will play their sixth game of the 2015 season at home on Sunday against the 4-1 Arizona Cardinals. As usual, here is my best guess as to what the Steelers list of inactives will look like prior to the game. Inactives aren’t announced until 90 minutes before kickoff, so check back on the site around that time for the official lists from both teams.
Ben Roethlisberger – The Steelers starting quarterback will miss his second game Monday night but all reports are suggesting that he is progressing well. He was able to jog off of the practice field this past week and continues to throw the football some on the side. While Roethlisberger is a good bet to miss the team’s Week 6 game as well, I wouldn’t rule him out for the Week 7 game against the Kansas City Chiefs just yet. With Roethlisberger down, Landry Jones will dress as the backup to Mike Vick.
Ryan Shazier – Shazier will miss a fourth-consecutive game on Sunday even though he was able to practice on a limited basis all three days this week. The linebacker has to be just as frustrated as the fans are at this point and especially since head coach Mike Tomlin has been painting a pretty picture about a possible return over the course of the last two weeks. As usual, Sean Spence and Vince Williams will share time in Shazier’s absence.
Will Allen – Allen will miss Sundays game with a left ankle injury that he suffered in the first quarter of Monday night win over the San Diego Chargers. He left that game and never returned and It won’t be surprising if the veteran misses multiple games with this injury. The Steelers chose not to promote safety Jordan Dangerfield from their practice squad on Saturday, so it looks like they will play the Cardinals with only three healthy safeties on their 53 man roster.
Cortez Allen – Allen ended the week listed as questionable once again and being as he was limited all three days this week, I think we can expect him to be inactive once again. Allen hasn’t played since Week 1 of the season because of an injured knee. If he’s down again on Sunday, the Steelers will only have seven total defensive backs dressed for the game.
Jesse James – James hasn’t dressed for a game so far this season and it doesn’t look like that will change Sunday at Heinz Field.
Chris Hubbard – Hubbard will more than likely be inactive again on Sunday being as Doug Legursky ended the week listed as probable. Hubbard has only dressed for one game so far this season and that was in Week 4 against the Baltimore Ravens.
Daniel McCullers – This last spot on the week 6 inactive ,list is very hard to figure out as it could go to McCullers, Jarvis Jones, Anthony Chickillo, or L.T. Walton. Jones ended the week listed as questionable, but I’ll guess that he dresses and gives it a go on Sunday. Regardless, Chickillo might dress for the first time in his career. I chose McCullers this week because of him missing a lot of time recently. It was a surprise last week that he was inactive even though he practiced fully all three days. If it’s not him, I would expect Walton to be down instead.
