Official: Steelers Sign Chris Boswell, Release Josh Scobee

In the move most of us anticipated, the Pittsburgh Steelers have officially announced they have signed kicker Chris Boswell and released Josh Scobee.

Boswell, as we’ve mentioned, is a second-year player out of Rice. A background as a kicker and punter, Boswell will play in his first regular season game Monday night against the San Diego Chargers.

The Steelers traded a 6th round pick for Scobee following injuries to Shaun Suisham and Garrett Hartley but the move never panned out. Scobee missed two field goals in Week One against the New England Patriots and missed two in Thursday night’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Boswell is the fourth kicker the Steelers have had since training camp. And hopefully the last.
