There’s still three games left to be played before Week 1 of the 2015 NFL season comes to an end, but we already know that Week 2 will start with the Cincinnati Bengals being in sole possession of first place in the AFC North division.
Fueled by the 269 yard, two touchdown passing performance of quarterback Andy Dalton, the Bengals easily disposed of the Oakland Raiders 33-13 Sunday afternoon. Both of Dalton’s touchdown passes went to tight end Tyler Eifert, who finished the game with nine catches for 104 yards.
The Bengals defense also contributed in the win as they recorded two turnovers in the game and held the Raiders to 63 yards rushing. Second-year running back Jeremy Hill also scored twice on the ground in his 19 carries.
The Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns both lost Sunday and they now join the Pittsburgh Steelers at 0-1 heading into Week 2.
For the Browns, they lost to the New York Jets 31-10 on Sunday as quarterback Johnny Manziel turned the football over three times in the game. Manziel replaced starter Josh McCown in the game at the end of the first quarter as the latter left with a concussion after attempting to score on a scramble to close out the Browns first offensive possession. McCown fumbled on the play as well and it resulted in a touchback for the Jets.
Manziel completed only 13 passes for 182 yards in relief of McCown and his three turnovers resulted in three touchdown scoring drives for the Jets.
The Ravens lost to the Denver Broncos 19-13 Sunday afternoon as quarterback Joe Flacco was intercepted in the end zone with 36 seconds left in the game. It was Flacco’s second interception of the game as Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib also picked him off late in the third quarter and returned it 51 yards for a score. Flacco ended the game with 18 completions for 117 yards and he was sacked twice.
The Ravens also lost outside linebacker Terrell Suggs for the season Sunday as the veteran pass rusher tore his Achilles in the second half of the loss.
Week 2 will feature the Steelers playing the San Francisco 49ers at home next Sunday while the Bengals will host the San Diego Chargers. The Browns will host the Tennessee Titans next Sunday while the Ravens will play the Raiders on the road.
