The Pittsburgh Steelers are now winding down their Wednesday training camp practice and it appears as though safety Robert Golden has suffered some sort of lower leg injury.
Golden, who is entering his fourth season with the Steelers, was able to limp off the field after being down for a while on the field in pain, however, according to reports on Twitter. He was later carted off the field.
The Steelers currently have several safeties on their roster nursing injuries as Shamarko Thomas, Mike Mitchell and Ross Ventrone all sat out again Wednesday with injuries.
Golden was the Steelers special teams captain last season. He originally signed with the team as an undrafted free agent out of Arizona in 2012.
Earlier in Wednesday’s practice, guard Chris Hubbard was reportedly carted off with a toe injury. Head coach Mike Tomlin will likely update Wednesday’s injury report at the conclusion of practice.
ETA: After practice, Tomlin referred to Golden’s injury as being a significant one and that he’s currently being evaluated.
