Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jerome Bettis will be inducted into the Pro Bowl Football Hall of Fame this coming Saturday as one of eight members of the Class of 2015 and as of Tuesday, we now know where he stands in the enshrinement order.
According to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Bettis’ enshrinement will be the final one Saturday in Canton, Oh.
In a weekend interview on 93.7 The Fan, Bettis admitted that he still hasn’t finished his speech. He also admitted that the reality of the upcoming event is starting to set in.
“It’s starting to become very real,” Bettis said. “It’s hard sometimes to envision it. Now, it’s crystal clear. It’s right in front of me.”
A few weeks ago, Bettis announced that his brother John Bettis would be one presenting him.
“He was a Steelers fan since I was a kid. I thought the first Steelers fan that I ever encountered should introduce me,” Bettis said in the interview. “He is going to introduce me on behalf of my family and my father, but also on behalf of all the fans as well.”
As far as Steelers fans go, a large contingent of them are expected to be present Saturday for his enshrinement. Additionally, the entire Steelers team and front office is also expected to be in the stands.
During his career, Bettis closed out quite a few games for Steelers on the ground with his bruising running style so it’s only fitting that he will close out the ceremonies Saturday in Canton. Personally, I’m glad the saved Bettis for last.
