Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin signed a two-year extension on Thursday and according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com, the new deal which carries him through the 2018 season is worth at least $7 million a year.
Fowler goes on to report that the new extension now makes Tomlin one of the top five highest-paid head coaches in the NFL.
According to May report by Sports Illustrated, Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll leads the league will a salary of $8 million plus annually. New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton is next on their list with an $8 million yearly salary.
New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is next up with annual salary of $7.5 million plus and he is followed by Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, who reportedly earns $7.5 million a year.
Tomlin’s last extension came in July of 2012. He was listed as earning $5.75 million a year this past May.
Tomlin is entering his ninth year as head coach of the Steelers and he currently possesses a 82-46 regular-season record.
