The Pittsburgh Steelers finally have some training camp competition for veteran long snapper Greg Warren as the team claimed Brandon Hartson Friday off waivers from the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Chiefs signed Hartson to a reserve-futures contract back in December. He entered the league in 2013 out of Houston as an undrafted free agent with the Chicago Bears. He spent the 2013 and 2014 training camp with the Bears, but has yet to stick with a team during a regular season.
At Houston, Hartson was perfect on 131 snaps during the 2012 season and was named second team All-Conference USA.
The Steelers now have three punters and two long snappers on their offseason roster. Earlier this week the team signed punter Jordan Berry to compete against Brad Wing and Richie Leone.
