2015 Draft

Steelers Represented At Mississippi State Pro Day

The Mississippi State Pro Day took place Wednesday and the Pittsburgh Steelers reportedly had personnel on hand to observe it.

The top Mississippi State draft prospects this year are Preston Smith, Benardrick McKinney, Kaleb Eulls and Justin Cox.

According to Twitter reports, Smith and McKinney stood on their combine numbers Wednesday, but both took part in the position drills. Cox, on the other hand, will reportedly have his Pro Day on March 12 at a local high school being as he wasn’t invited to participate Wednesday due to him being arrested and subsequently suspended by the school in November following a domestic violence charge.

Smith, who measured in at the combine at nearly 6’5″ and weighing 271 pounds, is viewed as a candidate to play outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense at the NFL level. If he can put on weight, he might be even be better suited to play defensive end in a 3-4 scheme as he does have some stiffness to him. Smith is viewed by many as being a second or third round prospect.

In case you missed it, here is the breakdown of Smith that Alex Kozora did several weeks ago.
