We have some news about a Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback to pass along on this Monday but it’s not the best kind.
According to TMZ, Steelers cornerback Antwon Blake was arrested early Sunday morning in Oceanside, CA for allegedly being drunk in public.
The report states that Blake was arrested after he was seen walking around drunk outside of some bars. He was ultimately released after he sobered up.
At least Blake wasn’t driving, so that’s good news. There’s probably not many of us who haven’t walked around drunk outside of bars at some point during our lives.
Blake joined the Steelers just prior to the 2013 season after he was claimed off of waivers from the Jacksonville Jaguars. He’s played in 30 regular season games with the Steelers over the course of the last two seasons and in 2014 he registered 42 total tackles, six passes defensed, one interception and one forced fumble.
The UTEP product was recently given a $1.542 restricted tender for 2015 and it’s doubtful that another team will pursue him during free agency.
I doubt the Steelers and the NFL make a huge deal out of this. He’ll probably get a talking to from head coach Mike Tomlin and that will be the end of it. As it should be.
