Steelers Vs. Ravens: Winners And Losers From The AFC Wild Card Game

The Pittsburgh Steelers lost to the Baltimore Ravens 30-17 Saturday night at Heinz Field in the AFC Wild Card Game and their 2014 season is now over. Here is just a little sampling of some winners and losers for you to discuss. Feel free to add your own in the comments below that you think I missed.

Winners:

Steve McLendon – The Ravens rushed for only 49 yards on 25 carries and McLendon appeared to play a big role in that. He got the best of Ravens center Jeremy Zuttah quite a few times in the game.

Martavis Bryant – Bryant only caught five passes for 61 yards in the game but he did have the only touchdown reception. The rookie made quite a bit of progress this season and showed us that he’s not a one trick pony in the process. Bryant is not afraid to block either.

Sean Spence – While not a great game for Spence, he did record a sack along with a forced fumble in the game.

Shaun Suisham – Suisham was the only consistent player for the Steelers in the game as he knocked down three first half field goals in the loss.

Antonio Brown – Another 9 catches for 117 yards for Brown, who almost had a long touchdown catch after the fumble recovery.

Losers:

Jason Worilds – Worilds’ stupid unnecessary roughness penalty for taking a swing at a Ravens player is enough to land him on this list. In addition, he failed to get any real pressure during the game.

Marcus Gilbert – Gilbert had his hands full most of the night with Elvis Dumervil before leaving injured late in the game.

Mike Mitchell – Mitchell’s disappointing season is now over. He allowed one touchdown and took bad angles on at least two plays. In addition, his personal foul penalty really hurt the defense.

Maurkice Pouncey – Pouncey was not at his best against Brandon Williams as he was pushed backwards several times in the game.
