Steelers RB Le’Veon Bell Named 2014 FedEx Ground Player Of The Year

After winning the FedEx Ground Player of the Week award three times in 2014, it was announced Saturday afternoon that Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell was voted the 2014-15 FedEx Ground Player of the Year.

Bell, who was drafted by the Steelers in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft out of Michigan State, rushed for an AFC-best 1,361 yards in 2014. That was good for fifth-most in team history. Bell also set a franchise record in yards from scrimmage (2,215) in 2014 and he joined the late Walter Payton as the only players in NFL history with at least 200 yards from scrimmage in three consecutive games.

Fans were asked to cast their votes for the award online over the course of the last several weeks. FedEx will now also make a $25,000 donation in Bell’s name to the Red Cross chapter in Pittsburgh.

FedEx will officially announce the 2014 FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Year winners at the 4th Annual NFL Honors awards show in Arizona, a two-hour primetime special to air nationally on January 31 on NBC the night before Super Bowl XLIX.
