Earlier this week it was reported that the Pittsburgh Steelers were one of several teams working out Calgary Stampeders defensive end/outside linebacker Shawn Lemon and now it looks like the team will be signing him to a reserve/futures contract over the course of the next week.
Scott Mitchell of the Calgary Sun reports Friday evening that sources have informed that the Stampeders will release Lemon from his contract so he can sign with the Steelers.
The 6’3, 251 pound pass rusher registered 13 sacks last season and tied the CFL record and set a new franchise mark with eight forced-fumbles.
The Steelers could certainly use some depth at the outside linebacker position and it looks like the Akron product and Maryland native will be given a shot to compete for a spot on the 53 man roster during the offseason.
