Now that all of the high school and college football games have been played this weekend at Heinz Field, the playing surface is now being re-sodded ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers game a week from Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.
On Friday, eight teams played for a WPIAL Championship and on Saturday the University of Pittsburgh hosted Syracuse at Heinz Field.
Heinz Field had previously been re-sodded between the hash marks after the Steelers Week 7 game against the Houston Texans.
There was speculation Thursday that Heinz Field could possibly host the weather relocated game between the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills on Monday night, but that option was quickly deemed as not being feasible due to the playing surface needing to be replaced after the games that were already scheduled.
The entire @heinzfield surface will be replaced this weekend. It was re-sodded between the hash marks after the @steelers Wk 7 game vs HOU.
