The Baltimore Ravens suffered a huge blow Thursday as head coach Jim Harbaugh has announced that cornerback Jimmy Smith will be lost for the remainder of the season after needing surgery on his injured foot.
Harbaugh: “With the exam this morning, the doctors decided that he needed surgery and they repaired the injury."

Smith, who injured his foot in the loss to the Cincinnati Bengals a few weeks ago, was easily the Ravens best cornerback and there’s no way his level of play can be replaced.
After the Ravens loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday night, the Ravens released cornerbacks Chykie Brown and Dominique Franks. They filled those two roster spots by claiming cornerback Danny Gorrer off waivers from the Detroit Lions and promoting rookie cornerback Tramain Jacobs from their practice squad.
Moving forward, one of those two players will likely start opposite Lardarius Webb, who has been slowed at times this season with a minor back issue.
The Ravens will host the Tennessee Titans this Sunday and then will have their bye the following week.
