The Cincinnati Bengals could be without their top wide receiver for the next few weeks as it was reported Thursday that A.J. Green is currently dealing with a toe injury that forced him to be carted off the practice field Wednesday.
Green is not expected to play Sunday against the Carolina Panthers and early speculation suggest he will miss additional games moving forward.
Green, who has registered 17 catches for 314 yards and two touchdowns so far this season, has already met with a podiatrist.
During a Thursday interview on Sirius XM NFL Radio, Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis admitted that Green’s injury is “a little bit more than that,” when asked if his receiver was suffering from turf toe.
The Pittsburgh Steelers won’t play the Bengals until Week 14, so Green’s status should be fully resolved by then. The Bengals, however, do have the Indianapolis Colts and Baltimore Ravens coming up after the Panthers and it sounds like Green could be sidelined for those games.
The Bengals head into Week 6 with a 3-1 record.
