The 2014 NFL season is finally here as it kicks off Thursday night with the Seattle Seahawks hosting the Green Bay Packers on NBC.
As I do every year, below are my record and playoff predictions for the 2014 season, but first, have a little fun by looking at my predictions from last season. While I had the right two teams facing each other in the Super Bowl, I was way off on the Philadelphia Eagles, Carolina Panthers, Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans.
It’s really hard to bet against the Seahawks and Denver Broncos this season and I have this year’s Super Bowl being a rematch of last year’s because of that. The Eagles certainly have my respect now, but I’m betting against the Chiefs making it back to the playoffs.
The New England Patriots still don’t have any competition in their division and it wouldn’t surprise me if they went 6-0 in those games.
The AFC North will once again be a three team race and it will likely come down to the final game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Pittsburgh Steelers with the loser failing to make the playoffs.
Can the Texans turn things back around in just one season? I like the way that their schedule sets up.
As for the St. Louis Rams, they have a tough schedule and it will be even tougher if they fail to get consistent quarterback play.
I’m bound to be way off on a few of these records once again, so let me know in the comments which teams you think I am giving too much respect to and which teams I have underrated.
