After a poor showing in the first preseason game last week against the New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers backup left guard Chris Hubbard rebounded in the win over the Buffalo Bills Saturday night, according to Pro Football Focus.
Hubbard was the highest rated offensive player (1.3) for the Steelers Saturday night as he edged out quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (1.1), who threw two touchdown passes in the 17 snaps that he played.
Not surprisingly, third-string quarterback Landry Jones received PFF’s lowest offensive grade with his 2-of-5 passing performance that included one interception and a lost fumble.
Defensively for the Steelers, safety Shamarko Thomas (2.4) led the way in the eyes of PFF. Thomas was the second-string strong safety against the Bills with Will Allen sidelined by a hamstring injury.
Rookie nose tackle Daniel McCullers (-3.1) didn’t impress PFF in the 26 snaps that he played Saturday night against the Bills as he is currently listed as their lowest rated Steelers defensive player for the game. McCullers entered the game ahead of Hebron Fangupo Saturday night but failed to register a tackle or pressure during the contest. He was credited with a missed tackle in the game.
Cornerbacks Cortez Allen (-2.9) and Antwon Blake (-2.6) also both had rough nights, according to the player evaluation web site.
