We could find out as early as today if Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey will be charged for playing a role in an incident that took place last month in a Miami nightclub, but we do know now that it won’t be a felony charge, according to WPXI in Pittsburgh.
“In regards to the Pounceys, there is a meeting with our detectives and the State’s Attorney’s Office sometime this afternoon, Miami Police Public Information Officer Vivian Thayer told Rick Earle of WPXI. “Once that happens I will know what direction this case will be going. I do know we are not looking at the possibility of felony charges, which means no warrant. If anything, it would be a direct file via the State Attorney’s Office. I will have a definite answer once that meeting occurs.”
Late Thursday evening, Adam Beasley of The Miami Herald reported the lawyer representing the three alleged victims as saying he felt misdemeanor battery charges would be brought up on Maurkice Pouncey as early as Friday. in that same report, however, Pouncey’s lawyer said he had not been informed criminal charges were pending.
Maurkice’s twin brother, Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey, is not expected to be charged.
