According to the personal injury attorney that’s representing the three people that have accused Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey of assaulting them last month at a Miami nightclub, the player will soon be charged with misdemeanor battery.
According to Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald, personal injury attorney Marwan Porter said police have indicated to him that Pouncey will be charged soon and it could happen as soon as Friday. Brother Mike Pouncey will not be charged, however.
Jeff Ostrow, attorney for the Pounceys, told the paper late Thursday that, to his knowledge, an assistant state attorney had not been assigned to review the evidence associated with the case.
“Until such time, no charges can be formally filed against either of my clients,” Ostrow continued to the paper. “From what we’ve discovered, the evidence supporting the battery claims is flimsy, at best.”
This is indeed getting interesting and it looks like we should know by the middle of next week whether or not Maurkice Pouncey will be charged.
It sure does seem like it’s taken a long time to get this point for a misdemeanor battery investigation, however.
