Well, Canada didn’t last long for former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Terry Hawthorne.
According to Kirk Penton of the Winnipeg Sun, Hawthorne has already left the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to return to school. Hawthorne, who was drafted by the Steelers in the fifth-round of the 2013 NFL Draft, had just signed with the CFL team on Sunday.
I’m guessing that if Hawthorne plays football again that it will be with an AFL team. It’s hard to believe that just a few years ago there was talk of him perhaps being one of the top defensive players in the 2013 draft when his time was up at Illinois.
In other CFL news that includes former Steelers players, Thaddeus Gibson appears to be fitting in nicely as a rush defensive end with the Toronto Argonauts.
Gibson, who was drafted by the Steelers in the fourth-round of the 2010 NFL Draft out of Ohio State, bounced around with several NFL teams before finally making a run for the Great White North.
