According to T.J. Quinn and Don Van Natta Jr. of ESPN.com, Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon failed a drug test months ago and could now face a season-long suspension as a result.
Sources reportedly told ESPN’s “Outside the Lines” on Friday that Gordon tested positive for marijuana this time around. Gordon’s agent Drew Rosenhaus declined to comment when reached out to and called the information “not true.”
Gordon, who led the Browns with 87 receptions last season, also led the league in receiving yards with 1,646. Losing him for an entire season would obviously be a huge blow to the Browns, who open the 2014 season against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
This is not the first time that Gordon has been linked to marijuana use as he was dismissed from Baylor after being suspended twice for using the drug.
We’ll see what the Browns do Friday night in the second and third rounds of the 2014 NFL Draft as many expect them to address the wide receiver position. If indeed Gordon is to be suspended for the season, it shouldn’t be long until the league formally announces it.
