Guard Nik Embernate cleared waivers on Friday after being waived Thursday with a failed physical designation and it looks like he will not be reverting back to the Pittsburgh Steelers injured list, either.
According to Steelers PR man Burt Lauten, Embernate is “gone now.”
The Steelers apparently aren’t required to reach an injury settlement with Embernate being as he spent the entire 2013 season on their injured reserve list, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Embernate was originally signed by the Steelers as an undrafted free agent last year out of San Diego State. He tore two ligaments in his right knee during drills early last August and apparently still hasn’t fully recovered from the injury.
