The NFLPA has now updated their figures and as expected, the contract signed this week by new Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey was a one-year qualifying deal.
Heyward-Bey is scheduled to earn a base salary of $730,000 in 2014 and also received a $65,000 signing bonus. His reduced cap charge in 2014 will be $635,000.
After top 51 displacement, the NFLPA currently has the Steelers as being $108,066.00 over the salary cap, so it’s obvious that they are possibly not accounting for a credit of some type or are handling the post June 1 release of linebacker LaMarr Woodley differently than the league actually does.
