The Pittsburgh Steelers are more than likely keeping close tabs on Buffalo Bills free agent defensive lineman Alex Carrington, but they aren’t the only ones.
While Carrington has yet to visit with the St. Louis Rams, Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports Wednesday that could change in the near future now that former Chicago Bears free agent defensive tackle Henry Melton has signed with the Dallas Cowboys. The Rams, according to Thomas, had a visit with Melton lined up.
Thomas goes on to say that if signed, Carrington would likely be a backup to starting defensive tackles Michael Brockers and Kendall Langford.
Since his visit last Friday with the Steelers, Carrington has visited with the Oakland Raiders and there are unconfirmed rumors that he might be visiting with the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday.
The Steelers are needing a 3-4 defensive end after losing Ziggy Hood and Al Woods early on in free agency.
