Cornerback Darrelle Revis wasn’t unemployed very long following his release from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wednesday as it’s now being reported that the former University of Pittsburgh product has signed a one-year, $12 million contract with the New England Patriots.
Rumors had been circulating throughout the day that the Patriots would go after Revis hard if released after they lost free agent cornerback Aqib Talib to the Denver Broncos.
You have to hand it to Patriots owner Robert Kraft and head coach Bill Belichick on this one as they essentially traded a Talib for a Revis and in my opinion, will do well with that move as long as the latter can stay healthy.
UPDATE: Revis’ business manager is claiming no agreement has been reached between Patriots and Revis.
