Former Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith is starting to make visits following his release earlier in the week and his first one is with the Baltimore Ravens.
The Ravens re-signed wide receiver Jacoby Jones earlier in the week, but they really consider him a third receiver in their offense and a return man. Even Marlon Brown played more snaps than he did last season as a rookie, because of an injury.
Smith is as gritty as they come, but he’s also about to turn 35 years of age and is coming off of a very disappointing season by his standards. Pairing Smith up with Torrey Smith, however, would make for an interesting combination even if it were only to be for one season.
The Ravens are expected to draft another young wide receiver in a few months, so Smith will be a rental of sorts. A smallish rental that isn’t afraid of anything or anyone.
