The Baltimore Ravens have been lighting up the police blotter as of late as they now have had two players arrested over a course of a week.
Baltimore’s FOX affiliate reported Saturday evening that wide receiver Deonte Thompson was arrested Gainesville, Florida over the weekend and charged with having more than 20 grams of marijuana and drug equipment in his possession.
Thompson was originally signed by the Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2012 out of Florida and has 15 receptions career receptions for 147 receiving yards.
Thompson’s arrest comes one week after news surfaced that starting running back Ray Rice and his fiancée were both arrested at a New Jersey casino and charged with simple assault-domestic violence. They were both released on a summons to appear in court and evidence is starting to suggest that Rice knocked out his fiancée during the incident.
As of right now, it doesn’t appear as if the Ravens will release Rice, but that of course could change depending on how things play out after all of the facts are known. As for Thompson, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him released over the course of the next few days.
