According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Pittsburgh Steelers rookie receiver Markus Wheaton will not play Sunday against the New York Jets as he works to recover from a broken pinky suffered in the loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
Wheaton, who had surgery last week, has yet to have his stitches removed and that means Derek Moye will suit up as the fourth wide receiver against the Jets. This is not a surprise as we pointed out last week.
Wheaton has registered just three receptions for 26 yards in the first four games with all three coming in the game against the Vikings.
Wheaton will not have his stitches removed until next Monday, so it is yet to be seen if he will be available for the week 7 game against the Baltimore Ravens.
