Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the media following the 19-16 win over the Baltimore Ravens Sunday at Heinz Field and he updated the injury status of tackle Marcus Gilbert, who left the game early in the first quarter with a quad injury.
“Marcus Gilbert came into the game with a quad and early in the game just really couldn’t get it done,” said Tomlin. “Guy Whimper came in and gave us good work.”
In addition to Gilbert, Tomlin also gave an update on rookie linebacker Jarvis Jones, who sat out the game because of a concussion suffered last week.
“He took an impact test on Friday and passed it, but we double checked,” said Tomlin of Jones. “We brought Dr. Micky Collins over on Saturday and he administered a manual test. He didn’t get to a level of comfort.
“We believe that our doctors are some of the best in the world, we rely on their level of expertise. He handed down that judgment, we didn’t second guess and moved on. He was an inactive guy today. Its my assumption he’ll be ready to go next week.”
Tomlin did not address the status defensive end Brett Keisel, who left the game with a rib injury, but later returned.
