According to the Tuesday official NFL transactions release, the Pittsburgh Steelers have waived guard Justin Cheadle from their injured reserve list.
Cheadle, who ended the 2012 season on the Steelers practice squad, was reportedly having a good 2013 training camp prior to suffering a serious hamstring injury during practice in the middle of August. That injury led to him being waived injured and he reverted back to the Steelers reserve injured list after clearing waivers.
Cheadle played a total of 35 snaps during the preseason opener against the New York Giants and he saw time at both right guard and center. While he wasn’t a lock to make the Steelers 53 man roster, he more than likely would have made the practice squad had he stayed healthy.
Cheadle will now become a free agent assuming he clears waivers.
