According to several media reports on Twitter, Pittsburgh Steelers guard Justin Cheadle has been carted off the practice field Monday with an apparent right knee injury.
Cheadle, who was originally signed by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2012 as an undrafted free agent, was a member of the Steelers practice squad late last season.
Saturday night in the preseason opener against the New York Giants, Cheadle played seven snaps at right guard before moving over to center for 28 more snaps to close out the game.
Up until this point, Cheadle seemed to have a chance at making the final 53 man roster as either an eighth or even a ninth offensive lineman should the team decide to keep nine in total. Hopefully his knee injury isn\’t serious.
The Steelers have already lost one promising young offensive lineman prospect during training camp as undrafted free agent Nik Embernate tore both his ACL and MCL a few weeks ago.
