The Pittsburgh Steelers appear to be happy with their decision to switch tackles that took place well over a week ago and offensive line coach Jack Bicknell Jr. said Monday he will continue on with Mike Adams at left tackle and Marcus Gilbert at right tackle for the time being.
“We\’re gonna stay with it and see if there\’s a reason to flop back,” Bicknell told Mike Prisuta of DVE Radio on Monday.
In the preseason opener Saturday night against the New York Giants, Adams performed well at left tackle in the 33 snaps that he played. He did not allow a sack or a pressure and his run blocking was more than adequate. As for Gilbert, he also played 33 snaps on the opposite end of the offensive line. While his pass blocking seemed to just fine, he did have a few problems in the run blocking department on a few plays and that included him being flagged for holding during the opening offensive possession.
Unless Adams really falls on his face in the final three preseason games, he should be the starting left tackle when the Steelers play the Tennessee Titans in the season opener.
