The Pittsburgh Steelers should get two key players back Saturday night in their third preseason game of the season against the Kansas City Chiefs as both cornerback Cortez Allen and tight end David Johnson are in uniform.
Allen returned to practice prior to the Monday night game against the Washington Redskins after being sidelined following minor knee surgery at the start of training camp.
Johnson was removed from the Active PUP list last week and this will be his first game action since he suffered a serious injury over a year ago in the opening preseason game of the 2012 season.
The Steelers need Johnson to show Saturday night that he can handle the duties associated with being an inline blocker as second-year tight end David Paulson has struggled in that area of his game during the first two preseason games.
Allen will likely start Saturday night and he could move into the slot when the Steelers use their nickel package.
