According to WPXI-TV, Jerrell Whitlock and his girlfriend Precious Gethers were both extradited from Florida back to Pittsburgh on Friday.
Whitlock faces charges of attempted homicide in the June 1 stabbing of Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Mike Adams, while Gethers, who was apprehended along with Whitlock in a Florida hotel room a few weeks ago, is charged with endangering the welfare of a child and hindering the apprehension of Whitlock.
The report notes that Ms. Gethers lied to authorities about being able to reach Mr. Whitlock when they were searching for him following the attack on Adams and then fled with him to Florida with the couple\’s 3-year-old son.
Already in custody in Pittsburgh are Dquay Means and Michael C. Paranay, but Whitlock is believed to be the one responsible for stabbing Adams twice in the stomach during an attempted car jacking on the South Side. Those stab wounds required Adams to undergo emergency surgery for a lacerated colon.
Adams was forced to sit out for the remainder of the offseason practices following the incident, but the early word is that he will be able to participate in training camp beginning July 26 at St. Vincent College.
