According to a Friday report on Pro Football Talk, a source has indicated that free agent running back Ahmad Bradshaw has received full medical clearance to resume all football activities after having surgery on his right foot back in January.
Bradshaw visited with the Pittsburgh Steelers several weeks ago, and while there were reports that he would visit again just prior to the 2013 NFL draft, there has been no indication that he has.
Heading into day two of the draft, the Steelers very well might address the running back position in either round two or three. If they don\’t, you would have to think that by round five they most definitely will.
As far as the status of Bradshaw goes after the draft, a few teams other than the Steelers likely have him on the back burner until the draft is over. It is hard to imagine that the former thousand yard rusher of the New York Giants would be willing to play for the minimum at this point, but it isn\’t totally out of the question, I suppose.
Currently, the Steelers have just over $600,000 in available salary cap space, so that will make it tough to sign Bradshaw before June, when they will receive $5 million more in cap space when the release of guard Willie Colon becomes official.
Bradshaw remains a fallback option at this point and that is all he has been to the Steelers all offseason.
