Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker LaMarr Woodley said Monday on Sports Talk 1040 Radio in Florida that he has no intentions on training with renowned trainer Tom Shaw down in Florida this offseason.
Shaw, who currently trains Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor and a number of other NFL players down at the Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando, offered Woodley an invitation to train with him after the season ended and help him avoid the hamstring injuries that have cost him games the last two seasons.
“No I won\’t,” Woodley said, when asked if he would be training with Shaw during the offseason. “I\’ve seen that on Twitter and the thing is that a lot of people don\’t know is that I only missed one game due to my hamstring this season. The other injury is due to a high ankle sprain. So if any trainer, or anybody that is listening or on Facebook can show me how to avoid a high ankle sprain, then I\’ll come train with you.”
Woodley first injured his hamstring early in the Week 5 win over the Philadelphia Eagles and it forced him to miss the next game against the Tennessee Titans as a result.
The Steelers linebacker returned in Week 7 and started every week until suffering the high ankle sprain early in the Week 12 loss to the Cleveland Browns. That injury resulted in Woodley missing the next two games.
Woodley recorded only 38 tackles in 2012 to go along with 4 sacks and 1 interception.
