The Pittsburgh Steelers made a few expected roster moves on Wednesday as tight end Heath Miller, cornerback Ike Taylor and running back Baron Batch were all placed on injured reserve and tight end Jamie McCoy, safety Damon Cromartie-Smith and linebacker Marshall McFadden were all signed to the 53 man roster to replace them.
In addition to those moves the Steelers signed cornerback Walter McFadden and wide receiver Bert Reed to their practice squad to fill the spots that were opened up due to the promotion of Cromartie-Smith and McFadden.
Miller tore his MCL, ACL and possibly his PCL this past Sunday in the loss to the Cincinnati Bengals and he will require surgery and a long rehab. Batch broke his arm in the loss as well, but has already had surgery. Taylor is still recovering from a fractured ankle suffered in the second meeting against the Baltimore Ravens.
McCoy has bounced on and off the Steelers practice squad this year and will now serve as the third tight end against the Cleveland Browns this Sunday. McFadden and Cromartie-Smith have both seen one game each this season on the Steelers 53 man roster with most of their time being spent on the practice squad.
