Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was asked Tuesday during his press conference about the well talked about hand shake at the middle of the field between he and Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh following the win on Sunday.
It was a bit of an unusual and terse moment and Tomlin was asked if it seemed unusual to him.
“Nothing really unusual other than the fact that I was kind of in a hurry,” said Tomlin. “As I moved towards the middle of the field, I noticed to my left the number of guys that were headed towards our locker room, and maybe that happens all the time, but given the amount of effort it took to get out of that stadium with a win, I wanted to get there as quickly as I can.”
“It\’s a known practice for me to welcome guys into the locker room to thank them for their efforts after games. Really, the results of games don\’t matter, that\’s a general practice for me, but obviously it took special effort to secure that victory, and when I know that guys are headed toward the locker room, I was in a hurry to get there.”
Harbaugh was asked about the post game exchange of pleasures on Monday during his press conference and pretty much shrugged it off as Tomlin did on Tuesday.
So there you go. You can now take whatever you saw on Sunday and add in what the coaches said about it and come to your own conclusions if you think Tomlin dissed Harbaugh or not. Hopefully we will get to see this take place one more time in the post season.
