Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports on Thursday via Twitter that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, linebacker Lawrence Timmons, safety Ryan Clark and kicker Shaun Suisham have all been named 2nd alternates for the 2013 Pro Bowl.
These are second alternates, not first. so it would take a few things to happen in order for any of these four to make it. I read it wrong at first and thought they were first alternates. Roethlisberger would need both Peyton Manning, Tom Brady to be tied up in order to make it. There is a good shot that one will be, but not both. Matt Schaub was also voted in as the third quarterback, but unless injured, you can bet he will not miss the game. Andrew Luck is the first alternate at quarterback ahead of Roethlisberger.
It was announced on Wednesday that Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey and tight end Heath Miller had earned AFC Pro Bowl selections. Miller unfortunately will not be able to play in the game after suffering a serious knee injury in the loss this past Sunday to the Cincinnati Bengals.
