Week 10 of the 2012 NFL season is well in the books. sorry for the delay, but here now are the TOX stats for the week along with the year to date numbers for all 32 teams at the bottom. The +2 teams were a perfect 7-0-1 this week. This brings the year to date +2 number to 75-17 -1 (81%), which means it has now corrected from the beating it took a few weeks back like I thought it would.
Teams with a +1 TOX stat finished 2-0 for the second week in a row and that brings that year to date number to 20-12 overall. A meaningless stat but I continue to track it nonetheless.
The Pittsburgh Steelers gave up only 2 explosive plays once again this week and managed to force a turnover that ultimately won the game in overtime. Year to date the Steelers have a +21 TOX number which now leads the league. The Steelers also play a Baltimore Ravens team Sunday night that has given up 32 explosive plays through the air while recording 40 of their own on offense. Needless to say the pass defense of the black and gold will get a huge test.
I will be tracking this stat throughout the year as it is a good measuring stick to show how important explosive plays and turnovers are in each and every game.
