New York Jets head coached Rex Ryan told the Pittsburgh media on Wednesday during his conference call that All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis will not practice today as he continues to recover from the mild concussion that suffered in the Jets week 1 win against the Buffalo Bills.
Revis, who was kicked in the head by linebacker Bart Scott while attempting to make a tackle on Bills running back C.J. Spiller, has been cleared by the medical staff to do running and lifting and will be monitored throughout the week.
“I don\’t think he\’s going to have live contact, even if he gets better, until much later in the week,” Ryan said on Wednesday.
All of the early reports suggest that the University of Pittsburgh product should be good to go by game-time Sunday to face the Pittsburgh Steelers baring some sort of a setback. Should Revis somehow not be ready to play, he will be replaced in the starting lineup by Kyle Wilson.
Ryan also said on Wednesday prior to practice that he expects safety Eric Smith (hip), tight end Dustin Keller (hamstring), fullback John Conner (knee), nose tackle Sione Po\’uha (back) and wide receiver Stephen Hill (calf) will be limited today and that linebacker Bryan Thomas (hamstring) will not practice.
Cornerback Antonio Cromartie (shoulder), safety LaRon Landry (heel), guard Brandon Moore (hip), defensive tackle Mike DeVito (calf), wide receiver Chaz Schilens (ankle) and linebacker Nick Bellore (shoulder) should practice fully.
