So far today we have heard that Pittsburgh Steelers restricted free agent wide receiver Mike Wallace will arrive today and Tuesday. Cornerback Keenan Lewis, a childhood friend of the Steelers wide receiver said that Wallace would be in today, while fellow wide receiver Antonio Brown said that Tuesday is the day when he will arrive.
One thing to keep in mind is that with Tropical Storm Isaac quickly about to make landfall somewhere along the Gulf Coast, Wallace might very well be having a hard time getting out of either New Orleans, Louisiana or Orlando, Florida. Wallace was training down in Florida at the Wide World of Sports complex with Tom Shaw, but he very well could have made a trip back home to New Orleans prior to heading to Pittsburgh.
USA Today reports on Tuesday that the storm has wreaked havoc on flight schedules in South Florida over the weekend, prompting airlines to cancel more than 740 flights on Sunday and proactively cancel another 180 today. With Louisiana now in the path of the storm, you can bet that flights out of New Orleans are now a mess as well.
Aditi Kinkhabwal of the NFL Network reports this afternoon that two teammates told her that Wallace is/will be on a plane to Pittsburgh tonight and reporting to the Steelers on Tuesday. So Wallace could have very well had intentions of being back in Pittsburgh on Monday like Lewis suggested, but he just couldn\’t get a flight.
As head coach Mike Tomlin would say, we will see him when he gets here.
